MOSS creates a green oasis within the new CBRE headquarters “The Core” with the aim to create a healthier working environment.
With a scientific study to support the story regarding the positive effects of a greener working environment, CBRE approached design agency MOSS (Makers of Sustainable Spaces) to “green” their new headquarters. The new office in the Schinkel area in Amsterdam was officially opened on Monday the 25th of February 2019 and contains more than 150 m2 of green. The green oasis fits CBRE’s aim for a WELL certificate for The Core. This is an internationally recognized certificate that promotes and protects the health and well-being of users of buildings.

The research into the ‘Healthy Offices’ by the University of Twente and CBRE confirms the relationship between people’s working environment and their personal health, well-being and performance. To achieve a healthy working environment, insights from this research have been applied in their new headquarters, The Core. Among other things, it appears that the application of natural green spaces in the work environment influences the well-being and productivity of people in a positive way. Research showed that 65% of the people felt healthier, 76% had more energy and 78% felt happier. Employees were also 10% more productive.

Unique to The Core is the scale green has been applied. There are more than 900 plants in The Core with an enormous diversity, function, texture and color. This is 150 m2 of green space, more than 3% of the total floor space.

CBRE and MOSS have joined forces before to make office-buildings greener, such as in the “BANK” building of Booking.com. Together they are capable of implementing progressive projects in which the joint vision for improving working environments is the connecting factor.
